Finales – Round One: Lets Start With Bones and The Good Wife

Yep It’s that time of year again.

This past season I’ve been going spoiler free, and during this time I’m taking extra care to stay away from any kind of spoilers…and when I say spoiler free I mean I’m not reading any real spoilers but I do have a tiny idea of what will be happening in most of the shows I watch…well the ones I really care about. And I have to admit going spoiler free is more fun.

I’m going to be reviewing try and review all my shows final episodes… of course this is if I don’t get too lazy, start a blog post and leave it sitting in my drafts folder till next year (Yes I did that last year and it’s still sitting with a million other drafts).

SPOILER ALERT: If you havn’t watched The Good Wife and Bones Finales then RUN Away NOW!!

Let me start with the two finales that have aired (earlier than usual) so far:

The Good Wife:

Yes the finale was awesome.

It was an interesting and pretty much predictable episode, nothing special. Who thought for even a second that Peter was going to loose the election? Exactly.

The one thing that did surprise me was the end, that whole time I thought that she was waiting for Will in her apartment and was genuinely surprised when she opened the door and Carey was standing there. It didn’t even cross my mind that he was the one she called. Of course what came next was no surprise since it was Carey at the door….Season 5 is going to be VERY VERY interesting.

Bones:

Frankly, it sucked. I felt that the previous episode was better finale material than this one. When did Moffat start writing for Bones? Wait. You know if he did write the episode at least it would have been much more intriguing and twisted…and probably more fun.

The episode was ok, nothing more, nothing less. The writing was poor and lazy. Pelant being THAT powerful, totally unbelievable and that “cliffhanger” if it can even be considered one, didn’t have me looking forward to the new season like in the previous years. This was even more disappointing than the coma dream episode a few years back.

It was a very stupid & cruel move to have bones FINALLY propose (which we knew was coming right from the begging) and then have booth reject her by the end of the episode (which once again was pretty obvious from the minute she asked him to marry her that it wasn’t going to end on a happy note)…well forced to reject her propsal, which again is epically dumb and just proves what I’ve been saying from the beginning of the season: the writers are running out of ideas and have no more imagination.

I’m sorry but I really feel that it’s time to put the show out of its misery (and it seems that it may be heading into it’s final season because it’s moving to Fridays this coming fall). I was surprised or better yet shocked that it got an early pick up this year because the whole season was super lame and really boring. There were only 2 good episodes, and I don’t see next season getting any better. Either the writers have NO idea how to write for a couple or they’ve just given up (or both).

I’m certain that if it wasn’t for Emily’s real life pregnancy Booth & Bones would never have gotten together and in my opinion having Christine definitely ruined the show, motherhood does not suit Bones.

So much for the happy ending.

I just hope that my other shows have better finales.

Happy February the 14th…I Mean Valentine’s Day

This year Tawjihi (the general secondary exam in Jordan) results for the first semester coincided with Valentine’s Day…and as per the Jordanian custom, there were plenty of gunshots heard everywhere to celebrate passing the semester.

So if you’re a foreigner and this was your first visit to Jordan and you heard gunshots all day, it wasn’t because of some angry dad/uncle/brother shooting at their daughter’s/niece’s/sister’s boyfriend for sending her flowers or chocolates…it was just a bunch of teenagers and their families celebrating their success the Arab way.

 

Never Ignore a Coincidence…Unless You’re Busy

(This post has absolutely nothing to do with Doctor Who….I swear. That said…)

I’ve come to believe that there is no such thing as coincidence, or is there?

Lately I’ve been thinking about joining a gym….again. I usually join a gym, go for a few days then just stop going until my membership expires, then I want to go again.

A few weeks back I had a dream, and the only thing I remember from said dream is that I missed going to the gym, and that I really wanted to start going again. Of course I just ignored the whole thing and totally forgot about the dream until….

Several days later on my way to work I see a sign at a gym I didn’t even know existed (well in all fairness I knew it existed I just didn’t know that they had a female only section) with a special offer for a 3 month membership. Again I ignore the whole thing until my curiosity got the better of me and so….

A few days later I was asking a co worker who lives in the area if she knew anything about said gym, she didn’t, and then another coworker jumped in to say that she’d joined that gym because of their offer and that she likes it. She gave me their number so that I could call them, which I did, but I was still wondering about where the entrance to the building was because the guy on the phone was like, “you need to go up the street next to the building and you’ll see some metal stairs on the other side” and I was like, “Huh?” WTF? I didn’t even know there was a street next to that building! So once again I decided to forget about the whole thing until….

A few days later while I was on my way to work the bus took a detour because of traffic and ended up passing through said street…AND I saw the metal stairs the guy was talking about on the phone!

So now I’m wondering, is this all a sign that I should go ahead and join that gym, or should I just ignore the whole thing because it’s all a coincidence and use the gym money to buy myself some awesome electronic gadget that I don’t really need?

RIP Espresso Machine

Yesterday my espresso machine died on me while I was making my morning coffee. Thankfully I’d already gotten the espresso part out of the way and had just started steaming the milk when the steamer suddenly stopped working. I thought that I’d run out of water, which I was weird since I used the same amount as usual, but I filled her up again and waited for the steam to start. I waited….and waited…and waited, but nothing happened. I was already late for work so I just heated my milk the old fashioned way, on the stove, poured it over the espresso and left everything as is.

In the evening, after I got back home from work I decided to give it another go…I’m one of those people who think that if you leave something alone long enough it magically heals repairs itself and starts working again. But alas, it was still broken…how foolish of me to think it would repair itself that quickly…so I put it away (the last thing I need is a daily reminder that I have to use instant coffee again on the kitchen counter) until I can find someone who can fix it.

I’m already going through some severe “I need really good coffee” withdrawals, it’s only been a day, but I’m dreading a weekend without any proper coffee. I’m considering either just buying a new espresso machine or investing temporarily in a mocha pot (good luck finding one that isn’t super expensive in Jordan). And this is where I regret not buying that awesome mocha pot I found in IKEA when I was vacationing in the UAE. It was a little expensive but I didn’t get it because I stupidly thought I didn’t need one since, you know, I had an espresso maker that works just fine. Dammit! I’m an idiot.

One of the reasons is that it’s probably my new ringtone since my last ringtone hadn’t been changed for over 7 months and I was getting really bored of it. But I think the main reason I really really love the song at the moment is the video below, a very well made, Doctor/Rose fanvid.

Bored Bored Bored

Disclaimer: This post is brought to you by someone who is fucking bored, so bored they can’t even write a real post, so please feel free to ignore it, unless you’re fucking bored too.

• I’m all caught up on last weeks shows.
• It’s still summer hiatus so my regular shows won’t be back for another few weeks to keep me entertained on weekends.
• The new season of Doctor Who still has one more week left before it starts.
• The one show I had a left to watch (it will remain unnamed) which I was saving for when I’m feeling this bored, I ended up watching all 4 seasons in less than 24 hours…this was yesterday.
• I downloaded and watched the 2 episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures where The Tenth Doctor appears in.
• Hell I even watched all my movies that were piling up.

I am really really trying my best not to re-watch Doctor Who’s first 4 seasons for a 5th time…well I only watched season 3 twice cos I can’t stand how whiny and jealous Martha is of Rose when The Doctor made it very very clear to her that he’s not interested in her romantically because he’s obviously still in love with Rose. Yes Martha, you’re the rebound companion.

I miss Bunheads, I miss Doctor Who, I miss David Tennant as the 10th Doctor….I swear if my flash drive wasn’t out of reach I would have copied season one on right now and started watching again.

Maybe I should just get up and bake some apple bread…cook for the week…format and install windows 7 on my laptop…clean my closet (which probably isn’t a really good idea because I’ll just end up throwing most of my stuff out and regretting it in a few days)…but first I think I’ll go make myself some coffee.
