30 Day Photo Challenge: Day 23 – A picture of your favorite book

26 Jun

How does one classify a favorite book? Is it one they’ve read over and over again, or is it one they couldn’t put down until they finished reading the whole thing, or maybe it’s just a book they enjoyed reading from start to finish..

I’ve read so many books over the years and to tell the truth I’m finding it hard to choose which one is my favorite, so maybe I’ll stick to the first book I fell in love with:

The Thorn Birds

It’s an Australian novel, set primarily on Drogheda, a fictional sheep station in the Australian outback, the story focuses on the Cleary family and spans the years 1915 to 1969. It’s about 4 year old Meghann “Meggie” Cleary, who’s the only girl in her family, she receives little coddling and has to struggle to hold her own against her numerous older brothers, in the beginning they live in New Zealand but then her father goes to run his rich elder sisters farm in Australia. There Meggie meets Father Ralph de Bricassart who is a young ambitious priest and they become friends. Long story short it’s mostly a love story between the priest and Meggie, he refuses to break his vows to be with her and she keeps on pursuing him. If you want to read the details, it’s here on Wikipedia.

Its really the very first novel I fell in love with, I also have the mini series on DVD.
