Self-help Advice from a 2 year old

This is so awesome AND too funny, so I’m stealing it and posting it here (Click to read the original post):

  1. Challenge yourself every day. Try climbing the stairs carrying two soccer balls while wearing your father’s shoes. Remember, failure IS an option.

  2. De-clutter! Start by throwing all your dishes in the garbage. After that I suggest toothbrushes and important paper work.

  3. Pee on the floor and stomp in it like a puddle. You’ll be shocked how much better you feel.

  4. Whether the glass is half empty or half full is irrelevant if you dump it out on the sofa. You’re welcome.

  5. If you’re feeling aggressive, or just bored, scream in a cat’s face.

  6. Don’t ever be afraid to hand someone an ice cube while they’re on the toilet. That stuff is cold. You don’t have to be in pain!

  7. Socks are poison. Trust me, don’t wear them! Happiness will soon follow!

  8. Pound on a computer keyboard like Jerry Lee Lewis playing the piano. Feel better? I thought so. Great Balls of Fire!

  9. If you fall down, stay down. Someone will pick you up eventually.

  10. Quick thrills fuel the heart. Have you learned to delete things off the DVR yet? DO IT. It’s AwWwWwEsOmE.

  11. Seize the day and the night and the middle of the night and the early morning. Seize everything, y’all! Never stop seizing stuff.

  12. Tired of looking at yourself in the mirror? So was I until I met my friend permanent marker. FACE TATTOOS ARE RAD.

  13. This might be a tough one, but you gotta trust me: Take a crap in the tub. It’s surreal.

  14. Live in the moment because there is nothing else. Seriously, there isn’t. Not that I’m aware of at least.

  15. If you’re gonna run, do it at top speed, man. Life is too short to walk in the mall.

Our Idiot Brother

loved the movie

The only reason I even considered downloading and watching this movie was because Zooey Deschanel is in it. I was expecting it to be an ok movie, maybe slightly boring if I were to judge it from the previews I’ve seen, but I was surprised to find that it was a great movie. It was funny, but not hilariously so and extremely entertaining, not a boring moment in it. I really enjoyed it, well when I wasn’t racking my brain trying to work out where I’ve seen the guy who plays Ned before (turns out he played Mike on Friends, totally didn’t recognize him with all that hair).

So basically, and without giving away any spoilers, Paul Rudd is Ned, a good-natured person whose philosophy in life is to trust people and give them the chance to rise up (I know, I know, that’s what she said) and do the right thing. His honesty is misinterpreted for immaturity, and so in the eyes of his sisters and everyone who meets him, he’s an idiot.

In reality though Ned’s far from being an idiot, and he knows it even though he’s more than happy to let everyone think whatever they want about him. And no matter what the circumstances are, he’s always willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. To quote Ned: “Just because you want to see the good in people and think the best of them and their intentions, it doesn’t mean that you’re an idiot.”

And finally, I loved the way the movie ended, I won’t give away the ending so I’m just going to say that in my opinion it was perfect.

Happy Eid

Eid Mubarak!

May you gain several kilos from eating lots of kaek (كعك), ma’moul (معمول) and chocolate.

May you end up with insomnia from drinking too much arabic coffee (قهوة سادة).

May you have a wonderful week off work, and enjoy a 6 day work week after that.

So have a happy Eid and “Every year and you’re ok” (كل عام و انتم بخير)

eid mubarak...baaaaaa
